How to close your mortgageMoving into your own home is a very exciting time.  But, a lot goes into preparing for the closing meeting.  If you ever have any questions, it is always acceptable to ask your mortgage broker or lender.  However, here are some tips for closing your mortgage.

If you are getting ready to move into a home you have just bought, it is a good idea to invest in knowledge about the process.  Knowing what you’re getting into is always a good idea.  This way, you know what to expect when you walk into the closing meeting.

Who will be there?

There will be a few different people at your closing meeting.  You’ll see your mortgage broker, your mortgage attorney, seller, and lender at the closing.  Before the closing, ask what documentation you might be expected to bring with you.  So, remember to ask who will be attending the meeting so that you can be prepared and move into your house without any hassle.

Gather the Documentation

Before you can move into your new home, you need to get a few different documents together.  Always ask before the meeting, but here are some of the items you’ll likely be required to submit:

  • Homeowners insurance
  • Title insurance
  • Title search report
  • Sewer, well, termite, and septic certificates

What will happen?

At the closing, you will discuss the loan and the sale.  During this meeting, you’ll also be signing a few documents including:
