California Crackdown on Rogue Movers

California Crackdown on Rogue MoversNo one wants to have to deal with a rogue moving company. Think about it; how would you feel if you had the movers come, pack up your stuff, and drive off never to see your things again? Consider all the valuables you would lose, not to mention the memories – your photo albums, family heirlooms, and kids’ toys are all packed into the back of that moving truck.

Or, that rogue moving company could simply jack up the prices once your stuff is loaded and hold your freight shipment hostage! We don’t know which is worse, but we do know that no one should have to go through that.

The CPUC (California Public Utilities Commission) doesn’t want you to go through that, either. The agency recently took several steps to enforce the repercussions of rogue moving company antics. The CPUC’s efforts are intended to help protect consumers like you from falling victim to moving companies that operate illegally within the state of California.

Basically, the CPUC regulates and licenses moving companies within the state of California. Anyone considering moving within the state should check with them to see if the moving company is, in fact, registered with the agency. If not, they should consider using an alternate company.

In recent months, the CPUC has taken a number of efforts against rogue moving companies. These efforts include criminal and legal action against companies and individuals that are taking advantage of unsuspecting consumers.
