Your moving company’s quotation visit

Your moving company’s quotation visit

When you are planning a move, your moving company will likely come to your home to assess the situation and provide you with an accurate estimate for its services. There are certain things that will need to be discussed during this visit to enable both you and the moving company to be clear about what is happening.

First of all you need to make sure that you make clear to the moving company everything that needs to be moved, which includes the contents of the attic, basement and garage. If you believe that you will be getting rid of a lot of things before the move, you should explain this; however, if possible, this should be completed before the moving company arrives to give the estimate. The moving company will give you an estimate based on the amount of items that you have to move and if there is much more on the actual day then you will have invalidated the estimate.

This could cause problems on the day, as your moving company may want to charge you more and you may be left with no choice as you provided inaccurate information to begin with. Make sure that the company also knows whether there are any awkward situations that may have to be dealt with, such as a narrow stairway, in either your existing home or your new home.

Professional movers will ask you a lot of questions and you need to be sure that you answer them as fully as you can to get the best price for the company’s services.
