With the opening of the Potomac Mills Mall, many jobs were brought to the area, which spurred even more development. Many government workers in Washington DC have decided to relocate to Woodbridge, partly thanks to an HOV waiver that was given to owners of hybrid vehicles. Although this practice ceased in 2006, it still caused more residents to move to the area, further increasing employment opportunities.
