It takes little more than common sense to pack a storage facility; however, the need for storage often has a tendency to arrive at a time of desperation and thus common sense is sometimes hard to come by. There is no need to panic, however, as there are a few easy tips and tricks to follow to make the most out of your storage space.
The first piece of advice is to create an inventory of all the items you are going to put into storage. If you can, it is also a good idea to take photographs and make a list of how much the estimated replacement value would be of each and every item.
You need to consider how often you are likely to need to access the items that you have placed in storage. This will have an impact on how you pack the storage facility and what should be packed in each box. Also if you should choose a self-service storage or full-service storage option. Items that you are likely to want to access on a regular basis should be packed near the front of the storage facility for easier access.
Use boxes for your packing whenever possible. Boxes not only stack very easily but can also be sealed off and thus offer protection from dirt and dust for your belongings. All boxes should be labeled, preferably on each side so that the contents can be read regardless of the manner in which the boxes have been stacked.
