If you are considering long-term storage when you move out of one house and have to wait to move into another, you need to make sure that all your goods are properly packed. This particularly applies to electrical items.
For long-term removal company storage of electrical equipment, such as your TV, stereo or computer, it is best to store the items in their original boxes; however, we do appreciate that you are unlikely to have kept the original boxes for everything you own. If you can’t find a box of a similar size, ask your local electrical store whether it has an old box that you can use. Make sure that you fill any gaps with bubble wrap or another packing material to ensure that the item is properly padded.
If you are using moving company storage for your vacuum cleaner, a good tip is to make sure that the bag is removed when you store it. Simply take the bag out and throw it away – you can put a new bag in when your vacuum cleaner is delivered to your new home.
Your moving company storage facilities will often be climate controlled; therefore, you do not have to worry about damp getting in, but you do need to make sure that everything is properly padded and wrapped so that you can minimize the chance of damage.
If you are unsure, talk to your moving company representative and obtain their advice on how to pack individual items.
