Things You Always Wanted Know About Unpacking But …

Do you have a long list of things you always wanted to know about unpacking after a move but were afraid to ask? We’re so excited you’ve stopped by – we’ve got all those things laid out right here!

Just looking around your new house after the movers have left can give you a headache, we know. Boxes and bare walls aren’t the most welcoming sights in a home. Here’s how to get the dust to settle a little easier after you move in.

Where to Start?

You don’t have to unpack everything the day you move in! You don’t even have to do it in the first week. Work at your own pace and make it fun. Oh, and start in the rooms you’ll use the most – kitchen, bathroom, bedroom.

The Kitchen

The kitchen is the heart of the home, so unpack this room first. You just need it to be settled enough to function. Start with the basics and work from there. Resist the urge to unpack everything you see that has ‘kitchen’ written across it!

The Bathroom

One of the best rewards at the end of a hard moving day is a hot, steamy shower. Unpack the toiletries, towels and soaps. Make sure the bathroom is functioning and move on from there.

The Bedroom

After taking that first shower on moving day, you might want to hit the sack. Make sure the bedroom is unpacked enough to go to bed. That means put the mattresses and pillows in the bedrooms, unpack a set of sheets, and you’re ready to sleep!

Unpacking is a daunting task, but it doesn’t have to overwhelm you. Start simple, keep it relaxed, and you’ll feel as if moving day was a million years ago in no time!
