Organization and cleaning tips for relocation

Over 40 million people in the United States move each year, with people aged between 18 and 34 the ones who tend to move most often; couples with young children are more likely to move long distances.  Regardless of your age or the reasons behind it, moving continues to be one of the most stressful life experiences.

The reason that making a move is so overwhelming to so many people is because of the sheer number of details that are associated with it.  Organization is the key to making relocation as seamless and free from stress as it can possibly be.  One way to get organized is to use your computer to make a folder that is solely about your move, and you should also make use of a legal-sized envelope in order to keep any information about the relocation in one place.

The move itself needs to be planned out, of course, which is a task that includes either renting a truck or engaging the services of a professional moving company and perhaps enlisting the aid of family members of friends to help you.  You also need to work out whether you will need either permanent or temporary storage for any or all of your possessions and make sure that this has been booked in advance.

You will need to schedule the times for the turning off and on of utilities in your old and new home respectively, including internet, water, gas, cable, electric and phone services.
