With children back at school and families returning to their familiar routines, now is the perfect time for parents to begin planning future relocation. It can be a difficult process to move with children; planning ahead is vital and there a number of things that need to be taken into consideration.
One of the most important things that you need to do is to sit down with your children and explain why the move is taking place. It is also a good idea to address any worries your kids may have about the move and tell them what their new home is going to be like. You also need to get in touch with their school to tell them about the change in address to ensure that all the correct documentation gets sent to the new school.
All boxes should be labeled with their contents. This is something that is helpful to do with all boxes for all members of the family, as there is likely to be nothing worse than having to start sorting through numerous unmarked boxes as your child’s beloved teddy bear cannot be found.
It is also a good idea to have an activity bag already made in order to keep your children entertained on the actual day of the move. This should include a number of items to which they have an emotional attachment, as this provides them with a sense of familiarity that can be very reassuring.
